Friend Family of Greenbrier County, WV

If anyone is interested in a great article on the Friend family of Greenbrier/Monroe County, WV, contact me. I just received it from Dr. Peter Craig, a noted researcher and genealogist. It provides info on the earliest progenitor of the Friend line that includes Abraham Friend (b. Augusta, Va abt 1754) who married Elizabeth Howard, Abraham's brother Charles (b. Augusta, VA abt 1764), and their father George Friend (b. probably abt 1720 place unknown). Descendants of Charles Friend migrated into KY and began one of the major Friend family lines in that state. Abraham's sons, George Howard and Charles, went to Canada and married the Kratz sisters of a famous Hessian family, then moved back to the US into Indiana and Ohio. George Howard's son, George W., became a Methodist minister in Iowa. His son, Osmond, went to Missouri and married into the Winters/Prestons of Sullivan County, MO.

The info on this line given on the FamilySearch website is largely incorrect, and many of the fmaily trees on Ancestry.com that relate to this family contain info that is totally erroneous.

Would like to join with others to search for George Friend's origins.
