Hi Lois,
My message to your private addy came back, so shall try
my best to give you a little info here, altho I have yet to
hear from anyone who acknowledges kinship to my line after
14yrs?????
I don't know HOW anyone is connected, but suspect that the
FRIEIND surname link is from VA (where my line is said to
have originated) and also in Wilmington, NC where my WEELDON ggrands lived until 1910.
Believe that the Native ancestry in both my BROWN and WEELDON lines is what keeps me from progressing.
NO ONE who has responded to my queries has EVER heard of my surnames in either SC OR NC where the family was????
Believe that my ggrands were slaves in SC prior to 1870 when they are found in Wilmington, NC.
Also, believe that some chose to pass for white, as I find
some in SC listed as octoroons and many listed as mulatto.
Find too many familiar names in both RI and SC to dismiss
a connection but cannot confirm; and at my wit's end to
figure out where or who to contact next.
Perhaps if you can give me some info of the FRIEND surname,
I can continue.
Thanks so much for responding, Lois.
Warm regards,
carol.
