This is a 123 year old Bible published by A. J. Holman Company in 1881. It originally belonged to the family of Abner Thomas and his wife Nancy Clark Thomas who were born in the 1820's and lived in Red House, Cattaraugus County, New York. There is a family register documenting descendants in several generations and intermarriage into the Smith and Frink families and later generations intermarriage into the Pooler, Bleeden, France, Hewitt, Ashley, and Hart families. Apparently it was passed down from Abner and Nancy to their son William Ambrus Thomas who then moved to Springville, Linn County, Iowa. From William the Bible seems to have passed to his daughter Mattie who married Martin Smith and lived in Fayette and Marion, Iowa and later in Rochester, Minnesota and had children named Kenneth, Linden and Opal Smith. So this old Bible is well-traveled.
