Hi Valerie,

The Mary Fryer I have was married to her cousin Thomas Smith, and her father was Richard Fryer and mother Miss Smith. They had a son also Richard b 27 Oct 1903, who married Louisa Sarah Trinder b 1 Dec 1839 and they had a son Harry Fryer-Smith. We have heard that Miss Smith would not marry Richard Fryer unless they combined their names.
I don't know if there is any connection here.
