I have a copy of a affidavit on 8th Feb 1819 taken by James Diemer of John Fox (Fuchs) who testified that he was then age 52 years that he enlisted in the Borough of Reading in the year 1781 in A company command by Capt Joiner-that the crew were taken prisoner by the British in sight of the New York light house; That he was place with the rest on board the prisoners on ship called "Old Jeresy- he adds that Commadore Gillen Commanded the Corps that Captain Joiner was attached.
Another affidavit of 30th March 1833 before Frederick Heller, Fox states he will remove from Berks Co., PA. on 1 st May next to the County of Hancock, Ohio. ten miles distant from Fort Findely where he intends to remain &wished his PENSION to be there Payable- that his brother Jacob Fox will give him 80 acres of good land in that place.
He is refered to as JOhn Fox of Alsace in 1820,
Another affidavit 5th March 1834 before Wm.L. Henderson, J.P.C., County of Hancock, Ohio, signed JOhn Fox (his mark)
Hancock Co .,Ohio- October 21,1840- Elizabeth Fuchs,born Clemens, wife of John- 74-1-19- formerly Alsace.
Hancock Co. Ohio Novemeber 27,1843- JOhn Fuchs- REv Soldier age 75 8-17-formerly of Alsace Twp. BerksCo.
If anyone has information on Fuchs FAmily. I would like to know more about his brother John Fuchs/ and John
