It "stays in Ancestry" because no one takes it out.Ancestry will publish whatever you send in to those "trees" and somewhere in the file it states that it hasn't been checked, and it is up to the user to follow up.Those charts, like the LDS "Ancestral File" and the one that succeeded it, rely on the care and reliability of the submitter.Since most people who use the internet as a source don't take the time to actually research what they put in, it all stays and is passed around as "fact" because - as you say - it's in "Ancestry".Those "trees" were never meant to be sources - they are tools to help you find the people you're looking for.
