Blue Fugates & DNA testing

Wondering if anyone knows of anyone still studying the Fugates and the various branches of their dispersion, doing tests or looking for the gene or anything.... my mother's mother was a Combs, my mother was born just outside the Appalachians in New York (our father from Appalachian Virginia), and my brother's lips and nails have always turned blue as a crayon whenever he got cold or went in the water, etc. My mother was unofficially adopted at birth, and we know nothing else about her ancestry. My sister and I have been reading up since that article back in February, and we have a really strong feeling that there's more than coincidence going on here. We're both absolutely willing to submit to a DNA test to see if in fact we have some connection to this line, which could also give a researcher another branch of descendants to watch...
