Yup, Townsend is very much my Brick Wall. They did use names from the Cooper side of things, and I have wondered if perhpas Townsend was estranged from his own family. But then, his daughter Nancy Ellen did manage to marry a cousin, so maybe not.

Townsend Fugett and Malinda "Milly" Cooper had more children than you listed, including: Nancy Ellen who married her cousin, Reuben Fugate (I believe his father's name was Randolph); Frances (a girl, but you had her name as Francis) married Robert Wilds 1802 in Garrard Co KY - they were my third great grandparents (I have tons on their ten daughters and two sons); Benjamin who took off for the Gold Rush; and Sarhall (found on the 1830 census, Howard Co MO as "Varshael Fugitt") also took off for the Gold Rush (his wife was Mary D. Thorpe, and they died around 1870 in Sacramento CA). Oh, Pauline was also called Poloma, Spanish for Dove.

Malinda (Cooper) Fugitt is buried in Big Shoal Cemetery, Gladstone, Clay Co MO. Several of her children and grandchildren are buried there, too.

I am in touch with descendants of Rachel French (I wonder about that middle name) Fugate, by both her first husband Joseph Still, and her second husband, Townsend Brown (who was her first cousin on the Cooper side).

I have a fair amount of stuff on Townsend Fugitt, but no smoking guns pointing to who his Papa was, aarrgghh. I have found Francis Fugate near my Coopers and Abbotts, especially in Culpeper Co VA and along the Clinch River in SW VA (Lee, Washington, Russell or Scott Co, depending on the year).

Would welcome continued discussion at
