I am apart of the Fugere-Fugier families from France. From the stories when I was a little girl, I remember being told that there were several (maybe 7) brothers. The name was changed to Fugier shortly after they arrived here in America. Most came to America. I know my great grandfather first settle in the Kansas area, knew of a few Great-Uncles that settled in the Iowa-Kansas and South Dakota. My Great-Grandfather Joe Fugier homesteaded 16 miles east of Buffalo Gap, SD in the 1868. He had three sons/1- daughter, my grandfather Carl, ranched 1/8 mile from original place. I remember hearing of families that were of French/Canadian desent too.......... Carl Fugier had 2-sons/2-daughters, My dad is Stanley, him and my mother had 3 daughters/1-son. I am the oldest. Hope this gives some info on this part of the family. If you have any for me, please post/email. Thanks
