Hi Cheryl, I am delighted to get your message and finally establish which of the Campbells in Amherst were Sallie's parents. Many thanks. Now to help you. I have a pretty extensive line for your John who married Elizabeth Huckstep (4 Jan 1788). John's will was probated 18 June 1810. Elizabeth's will (probated 19 Aug. 1822) was the interesting one as she names some of her living children - Henry G. being one. Henry G. Fulcher married Delilah Fulcher in Feb. 1818. On Sept. 16, 1822, Henry applied for Bond as guardian of Jno. Fulcher (younger brother) son of Jn. Fulcher. Henry died 30 March 1820. They may have been living in the Lowesville District which now lies in Nelson Co., right on the boarder with Amherst. Marcellus was married to Sarah Campbell Feb. 19, 1857. Interestingly, I could not locate these families in the Amherst or Nelson Co. Census for 1850. The 1870 Census for Amherst gives Marcellus and Sallie and their children. Mary Anne (your grandmother)was listed. Her age, 13, making her birth around 1857. Mary Anne was not listed with them in the 1880 Census. She was probably listed with her husband. Marcellus served in the War Between the States.Marcellus died Sept 20, 1882. It was terribly sad. Several of his children died the same year, probably of whooping cough. It must have been a tragic time for Sallie. She died in 1900. I have more. What can you tell me about Mary Anne? Women sometimes get lost in family histories. Let me know what you need. I have siblings for Marcellus and Henry. Also, these families were involved in litigation over land. Thank you again for your information. Regards, Fran
