Many years ago, my father told me a story about the early Fulford settlers coming into eastern NC (ca 1698) all being kin. I note that there were a number who settled in the Dare and Currituck County NC area. Are any researchers of Fulfords in this area aware of this tale? If so, is there any data to corroborate the kinship to the early John Fulford, who settled in the Gloucester area of what is now Carteret County and who is mentioned a number of times in the Colonial Records of North Carolina? John apparently had two sons --John, the younger, who settled in Pitt County, and Joseph (my ancestor), who settled in the Gloucester area with his father. Another tale - still questionable at this time - is that John, the elder, was killed during the Tuscarora attack ca 1712/13. At this point I, like many other Fulford researchers, am still "trying to connect the dots," except that instead of dots, it's ancestors! Thanks for any response.
