Howdy, Steve,

That *may* have been a coat of arms for the Fulkersons of England. We aren't related to them. We were in America for decades before we adopted the surname concept, and even longer before we settled upon the Anglicized spelling of our surname.

Coats of arms seem to have their origin in medieval Europe. We may have to find out more about Dirck's roots there to see if his family had any sort of heraldic symbolry. Thus far, that's been a pretty tough row to hoe.
