Barbara,

I've seen Yontz spelled as Yonts, probably on some document, and changed the name to Yonts on my site several years ago.

Anyway, starting from John Bruner FULKERSON. He figures out to be in the 9th generation of Fulkersons in America. He m. Mary YONTS, dau. of Rachel FULKERSON and 'Sam' YONTS, 10 Jan 1866, and they had the following known children:
Rachel FULKERSON.....1868-
Joseph FULKERSON.....1873
I.C. FULKERSON....1875- (female)
Lura FULKERSON.....1878-
Lemuel FULKERSON.....1880-

John Bruner FULKERSON's father was:

Thomas Y. FULKERSON..........b. 15 Jan 1816; m. cousin Susan A. FULKERSON on 12 Dec 1836 in Ohio Co., KY, had 6 children; after her death in 1852, m. Martha GRIGSBY on 1 Feb 1854 (I recall it took me quite a long time to locate info on this Thomas and sort out his 2 marriages).

Thomas was a son of:

Philip Bruner FULKERSON............b. 1 Jan 1785, d. 14 Feb 1845; m. Sarah Ann (Sally) TAYLOR, ca. 1809. Remained in Ohio Co., KY, where all 13 (or 14?) children were born. A great-granddaughter stated he was a shoemaker and a cooper, having a yard where barrels and kegs were made.

Philip Bruner FULKERSON was the son of:

Captain Philip FULKERSON, baptized at New Brunswick, New Jersey on 23 Mar 1753. He was a Captain in the 2nd Battalion, Somerset County Militia, beginning in 1775. He married Elizabeth Bruner about that same year. (Have corresponded with many Fulkerson-Bruner descendants, all of whom report they've been unable to trace the Bruner family...not even Elizabeth's parents.)

Philip took his family to Jefferson Co., Kentucky (then part of Virginia) by 1782. There are two Mercer Co., KY records concerning Philip: he and brother Jacob appraised the estate of a John Gordon in February 1792, and his son John was born there about 1795. He moved to Nelson Co., KY about 1803. He was living in Ohio Co., KY when he made his will on 21 Jun 1813. His will was proved in August 1813.

Further information about Philip's military service, his will and other records about him are located at Captain Philip FULKERSON in the American Revolution, at
http://home.attbi.com/~apr1jan/captphil.html

The info above, plus links to all the info on Capt Phil's line of ANCESTORS (Fulkard, Volkert, Philip, Volkert, Dirck) are at http://home.attbi.com/~apr1jan/phildesc.html

Hope this helps.
