Hi Pat,

You ask how many of these families connect us. Gee! That's a hard one to answer. Perhaps, I can better answer your question by stating that I research Wilburns and their allied families. And in that large content, everyone that you noted is included, save for Season families. How many of these families are my direct ancestors? I'm not certain. But not many, if any at all.

Richard Wilburn (b c 1717 -1820) and yes, he was over a hundred years when he died, is the father of both Robert Wilburn and Lewis Wilburn of Carter KY. Robert was born when Richard was then in his sixties.

1. Robert Wilburn m (1.) Manerva Williams and he and Manerva Williams Wilburn are the ancestors of many Wilburn descendants in Carter Ky today. Robert later married (2)Priscilla Fultz Gullihue in 1844 in Carter KY...She is the daughter of Obediah and Martha Blankenship Fultz.

2. Lewis Wilburn was the father of Rueben Wilburn b 1808 who married Sarah Burchett. Lewis Wilburn b 1843 son, of Rueben Wilburn and Sarah Burchett Wilburn, m Elizabeth Herron. You might know that the Burchetts and Herrons were allied families in the 1700's.

3. Wilburn Hall, Wilburn Biggs are other people who connect to Halls and Biggs of eastern KY. (Again these people are not my direct ancestors.)

4. There were several Wilburn/Ross marriages. (Robert Wilburn b 1816 and son of Robert Sr and Manerva Williams Wilburn m Mary Ann Ross.)

5. And there was a Slaughter/Wilburn marriage too. But not in Carter Ky. But when I looked over your history posting, I made a mental note to inform you of this. I have a record that shows Burchetts and Slaughters...Would need to look this up, if you are intersted.

It was a real treat to read your postings on various genfourms. I have so many gaps and the fact that you are interested in Threewits really caught my interest and all the more so, when I realized that some of your ancestors ended up in Carter Ky and were also kin directly or otherwise to Wilburns.)

I love to share and exchange information. Please let me know if you think that I might have something in my database that will be of interest. Example: Slaughters.

About your Fannin ancestors. My knowledge is very limited, but from the little that I have gleamed on the internet, they appear to have been real movers and shakers in their day.

Pat, it was neat to hear from you. Thanks again. Your research work is important to me.
