tragic death of little Mary Fultz Sabine Co TX

Page 303-4 of People, Places, and Happenings of Shelby County, TX tells a tragic story of Little Mary Fultz. At age five Mary was attending a gathering with her mother in Sabine County, Texas. Mary was concerned about getting her special new shoes wet and had them put around her neck while playing in the yard with the other children. Later, her mother could not find her. There was a search, but to no avail. Days later a scrap from her dress was found miles away from the place she went missing. More time passed and a hunter, Anthony Webb, found her dead body. Her clothes were torn and her body scratched up, but around her neck were her still-like-new shoes.
This story was told about 1936 in a community newspaper. It had been shared by an old gentleman revisiting in the area about an incident about 70 years before(about post Civil War time).
Does anyone have this story in their history? Who are Mary's parents? And who was Anthony Webb?
