RICHMOND, Ind. -- Lucille C. Fultz, age 97, of Richmond, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at Friends Fellowship Community.

She was born Aug. 14, 1910, in Eaton, Ohio, to Charles J. and Margaret Matti Cox.

Lucille was a teacher in Montgomery and Preble Counties in Ohio and a professor at Women's College in Greensboro, N.C., and St. Mary's College in South Bend, Ind. She was the first woman chemist at Monsanto.

Lucille was a member of Central United Methodist Church, United Church of Christ in Campbellstown, Ohio, Eastern Star, and American Association of University Women.

Survivors include her daughters, Lisa Artman of Fort Worth, Texas, and Margarethe Fultz of Tampa Fla.; sons, Howard Fultz of Eaton, Ohio, and Wilbur Fultz of Pahoa, Hawaii; four grandchildren, Betsy Hunt, Pam Tullis, Merrick and Matthew Fultz; and one great-grandchild, Hayden Hunt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Chester Cox.

There was no public service for Lucille C. Fultz. Doan & Mills Funeral Home, Richmond, was in charge of arrangements
