I purchased the subject studio portrait of a young woman, identified on the back of the mount:

"Alice Fultz
Byran.
to Grandma"

This individual is listed in the 1900 U.S. Census data for Ohio Township, Saline Co., KS; the 1905 Kansas State Census data for Saline Co., KS; the 1910 U.S. Census data for Ohio Township, Saline Co., KS; the 1920 U.S. Census data for Oketa, Marshall Co., KS; and the 1930 U.S. Census data for Woodbine, Dickinson Co., KS.

Alice A. Fultz, born Mar 1886 in KS, was the daughter of a grocer, Albert E. Fultz, born Oct 1849 in PA, and Eliza (maiden name unknown), born Oct 1844 in PA. In 1909, Alice married a laborer, James Bryan, born about 1884 in Ireland (immigrated 1897). The couple had two children (both born in KS): Ray J. Bryan, born about 1910, and Virgil R. Bryan, born about 1913.
