Daniel Funkhouser, b. 1763, son of Jacob and Franey Funkhouser, was an officer in the Shenandoah County militia and was promoted from lieutenant to captain, 12 Feb. 1800 (From Shenandoah County Minute Book 1799-1802, p. 38). This is the only reference to military service I have been able to find, though he was supposedly still active in the county militia during the War of 1812 (near 50 years of age)
