Furman, Wm. m. Mary DeGraw Allan/Warwick
My great grandmother, Mary Degraw Allan, mentions "her man" William Furman in a letter written (1926)to her dtr, Ruth Allan Sullivan. The letter was written from Edenville, NY. (Warwick). Mary was married to Alexander Allan from Scotland.Records show that she was born in NY.My gmthr (Ruth) was born in Roxbury, Ct. in 1894.Alexander was a stonecutter and worked on the catholic cathedral in Newark probably around 1914.
I think Mary prob. married Furman after my great grand fathers death and returned to NY. I have no info to confirm this.
In the letter, Mary gave her address as Brownstone Road; Edenville, NY.She mentions that as soon as they sell the store they will move back to NJ.This theme runs through letters over the course of several years so she may never have achieved the goal of moving back to NJ.Any relationship?or can you shed any light on the above...your help will be [email protected]
