Dear Helen Hanson,
I was very amazed to read your message about your grandfather Bartholomew Furmanik. Could it be that he was a brother of my grandfather Jakob Furmanik, born 26 of july 1872 in Posada Górna/Sanok, son of Michael Furmanik and Catharina Bigos? He went away form Poland/Austria after 1890, to Ungvar (then Hungary, to-day Ushgorod/Ucrainia), and later he went with his wife and a daughter to Switzerland. My father, Jakob, was born in 1906. He had a brother and three sisters, one of them died as a little child. The family of our grandfather was separated in the first world war and met only in 1945.

We know that a brother of my grandfather (your grandfather?) went ot US. My grandfather Jakob and his (then hungarian) wife had 5 children, all of them died.

I visited Posada Górna in 1970 to seak tracks of our family - but nothing! Nobody know the name of Furmanik.

To my person: I am Alma Noser (born 1937), I live with my family in Lucerne/Switzerland. I have two sisters and two brothers. One brother lives in Sao Paolo, the other one in Basel/Switzerland, a sister in St. Gallen Switzerland and the other sister in Berlin.

Me answers:
- could it be that your grandfather and mine are brothers? (and that we are a sort of cousins?)
- could it be that ther Furmaniks from Posada Górna were jews? (being the big part of ther population of Galicia were jewish).

I am really amazed and look very much forward to your answer. thanks and many greetings from Switzerland
