James, I have been searching for information on my grandfather, Edward Furner of Chicago (1874 - 1917) married to Olga Eschert, daughter of Amandus and Pauline Eschert. I have come across John and Mary Furner as potential parents of Edward Furner. There seem to be two John and Mary Furners with a son Edward. One set has Mary's maiden name as Nacy and the other Mary was a Nacey. And, one Edward was born in 1874 and the other is listed as 1875. I'm still trying to sort that out although with the marriage license of Edward and Olga spelling Mary's maiden name as "Nacey", I feel more confident on who is who.
Anyway, on to your question.
Go to the 1900 census for 13 Ward Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, Series: T623, Microfilm: 261, Book: 2, Page: 20. You'll find a Harry J Furner, age 23, son of John and Mary Furner who lived on Carroll Street. He is one of 8 children. This is the record with an Edward Furner, born in 1875. The John Furner listed here was born June 1874, though, not 1852 as you mentioned.
If you call or visit the cemetary, they MAY give you more information on who buried him, date of birth, death, and burial, cause of death, etc.
It sounds like you and I may have a connection. Let me know what you think of this data.
