FURRY / FERRY OF LIGONIER, PA 1800'S
Posted by: Diane Ferry (ID *****5153) Date: February 02, 2003 at 12:09:26
  of 158

Recently did some more research, thanks to the 1880 census and the Ligonier Valley Library which has a wonderful reference room! Seems the name Ferry was spelled Furry in 1880 census: Henry "FUrry". He had a brother Abraham "FErry" living in Cook Township, just south of Ligonier, who provided a home for his mother, Martha Ferry (b.3/4/1798, d.3/17/1894). This is as far back as I can get at the moment.

Though we believe the name to be spelled with the "E" wondering if it may have been with a "U" before 1800's? and left with these 2 questions:
Who was Martha Ferry married to? What was Martha's maiden name?
Thanks in advance.
