Hi, Virginia,

I'm not a Fussell ( as far as I know yet)but I pay close attention to the Fussell family because my gggggrandpa John Pendergrass always seemed to live near them. I wouldn't be TOO surprised if GGGGgrandma hadn't been a FUSSELL.

I can tell you this much for sure : the Fussells, Thomas and brother Aaron sr. were in Northumberland co, Va very early on, then moved to Granville Co, N.C. as it was formed, being there at least by 1750 or so. Aaron had a son Aaron jr. to whom he deeded land. When Granville was broken up into Bute and other counties, the Fussell land was in Bute, and when it was further broken into Warren and Franklin and(much later)Vance, it was in Warren.

Aaron and Thomas Fussell were prominent in the Granville/Bute/Warren etc NC area and you can find them, and a Benjamin, listed on the old poll tax records and deeds there and in the census (after 1790, of course)

I just ran into some Bute county court minutes by Googling
Aaron Fussell, and there were many entries about that family, including one making aaron a Lieutenant.
I emphasize that if you really want to know about your family history, you need to consult original sources and not depend on the internet for accuracy.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask questions.
