Dear Judy:
My name is Rodney Richards (husband of Rebecca), and a Futhey decendant. Your father John William Futhey was my great-uncle. Johns family is as follows: Brothers- James Jefferson (Jeff), Dwight Bruceton (Bruce), Randolph (Stillborn or lived less than 1 hour), Charles Nathaniel, and Ollie Thurman.
Sisters- Ethel (Wife of Rev. William Hamby), Sally Pleasant (Died at age 5 or 6), and Delila Velma Futhey (Velma, Married to Joseph Henry Richards)
Velma and Joseph had the following children:
Thelma ( Wife of John Ray)
Robert (My father)
Jeannie (Wife of Jim Thomae)
Your father's father was James Major Futhey (b.3/28/1861 Miss.-d.June 1930 Buried in Upper Alton Cemetary Alton Ill.)
His wife was Delila Catherine Caviness (b.12/2/1888 Benton Co. Miss. d. July 7 1958 and is also burried in the Upper Alton Cemetary, Alton Ill.
His father was William Wallace Futhey (Pvt 19th Miss. Inf. Confederate Army died may 7 1864 from pneumonia)
William Wallace's wife was Jemima Ellen Lansdell (some census's list her as G.E.Landsdell or Futhey)
This is about as far back as we've gotten with the futhey's. But this much we can prove. Hope it helps.
Rod & Rebecca Richards
