My great grandfather, James Lewis Davis 1837-1915, was married to Eliza Jane (supposedly Carter?), 1835-1897. James had a sister, Matilda "Tilda" Davis 1834-1920, never married. They lived in Haralson County, GA, Bremen, Buchanan, Tallapoosa area. What are the dates of your Davis and Carters ? Could your Matilda have been named after the above ?
