Surrendered Company B, 47th Infantry Regiment Georgia on 26 April 1865 in Greensboro, NC Your posting caught my eye because of the link of the family to Horace Chase from Rhode Island. Horace was also a civil war veteran but he fought for the Union, the 1st ME Heavy Artillery and also the US Navy. Must have been a strange situation at the wedding of Horace and Martha. I do not have complete details regarding Horace due to the fact that he apparantly used an alias when he enlisted. If I understand his Pension Index card correctly, his alias was Horace B. Chase and his real name was Hiram G. Chase. His civil war record indicates that he signed up as a resident of, or to fill the quota for, my home town, York, Maine. I am hopeful that you can shed some light on the names for me. And if you have a photograph of Horace / Hiram, I would love to see it. Regards from Maine Alex Notify Administrator about this message?
