I am Informed the 1840 Federal Census of Cobb Co., GA indicates that Lucinda Edwards, wife of John Berry Duncan, was born abt l818 in GA. John Berry Duncan was b. in SC in Feb. 1822 son of Samuel Duncan & Elizabeth Benson, d/o Enoch Jemima Benson of Cupepper Co., VA. Other records indicate that Lucinda was b. about in 1827 / 1828 in GA. She d. betweem 1850 & 1854 and was m. about 1844 in Cobb Co. During her marriage to John B. Duncan 4 children were born:
Williamson Greenberry Duncan, b. 1845, Lost District Cobb Co., GA
Mary E. Duncan, b. 1847 - same place
Frances Clarinda Duncan, b. 1848 - same place
Lucinda Duncan, b. 1850 - same place.
Frances Clarinda Duncan m. John Creed Calhoun King, 11 Oct 1868, Cobb Co., GA. They had several children including George Washington King who m. Agnes Robinson, 21 Dec 1892, Marshall Co., AL. They had Ethel King, b. 18 Jun 1896 who m. Boyd Abbott and were parents of Mary Jane Abbott, b. 16 Apr 1932 in Mountain Park , OK. Mary Jane Abbott m. William Davis Williams on 7 Aug 1954.
Lucinda Edward was the first wife of John Berry Duncan. Jane Ann Eddington was the second wife of John Berry Duncan who d. 1915 and is buried in Bethel Cem., Marietta, GA.
Lucinda was b. in Cherokee Co. GA, which became Cobb Co. and was a full blooded Cherokee Indian. At this point we are seeking information of her correct brith & death dates as they are in conflict. We are also attempting to prove her Cherokee ethnicity as claimed through the generations of Mary Jane (Abbott) Williams family.
