John, I am not a Simms researcher but Captain John D Simms signed an afidavite for my g-grandfather I. R. Sewell to help him get his Civil War pension, this is way your psot caught my eye.In case you don't have it. In the book Coweta County Chronicles by Jones & Reynolds there is a brief family history for John D. Simms. This was the son of John Simms and ComfortGrace Simms. There is a picture of him with it. he died Nov. 1921, page 786 Also there is a bio of him on usgen web for Coweta Co.,Ga.but still no burial inform.
