James Cody, Gilmer Co. 1850

I'm looking for information on James Cody, born about 1803 in No. Carolina. The 1850 census shows him in Gilmer Co., GA with 7 children: Adeline, Thomas I., James A., George P., Letty A., Elkin Foster and Florida E. There is no wife shown, I'm assuming she died prior to 1850. Elkin Foster was my g-grandfather, and he is shown in the 1870 Texas census as living in Parker Co. with his wife Martha C. and 2 children, and in the 1880 Texas census as being in Wise Co. with his wife and 6 children.
