ROBERTSON/BAILEY/FLEMING/BOWERS

I am researching my Robinson and Fleming families of Lancaster District, South Carolina. My great great grandfather was Phillip J(ames?) Robinson, born 1815, who married Elizabeth Fleming, born 1821. Elizabeth was the daughter of Leonard and Mary Holly Smith Fleming, who lived in the Cedar Creek Community of Lancaster County. In 1840, Mitchell Robinson/Robertson is found living next to Leonard Fleming and near William Walker, who is thought to be the father of Abigail, Mitchell's wife. I am of the opinion my grandpa Phillip may have been the brother to Mitchell??

There was a Charles Robertson (name possibly John Charles) who lived in this same location and who is most likely the father of Mitchell, who was born in 1808. There was a John living in Hart Co., born in 1811, Martha born in 1813 (md. Samuel Byrum), a brother born in 1815 (I feel may be my Phillip), another brother born about 1819 (maybe named William), Nancy Matilda born in 1821 (married Daniel J. Bailey), a sister born about 1825. These people and year of births correspond with those in the household of this Charles. I further believe this Charles may be the son of William Robinson/Robertson who received a land grant in this area of 100 acres in 1786. Another interesting item to note is there was a Stewart Mitchell who also lived in this same area in the mid 1800's. I have wondered if Mitchell Robertson's mother's maiden name was Mitchell.

Grandpa Phillip's children were: William T., Warren R., Newman E., Sarah A., Joe Cephas, John Simon, and William Thomas (a second son by the same name - 1st son died young?)

My great grandfather, Newman Robinson, had children named: James F., Leonard Fleming, John Simon, Martha Matilda, Nancy J., Samuel Dickson, Sarah M., Maude, Caroline, Lewis Pinkney (my grandfather), and Ola Lee. The names of Newman's children are very similar to those of Mitchell and Martha's families. If my theory is correct that means most, if not all, of grandpa Phillip's brothers and sister left for Hart Co. and he remained here.

As for my Fleming side - many of them migrated to Hart Co. and other areas in Georgia, Alabama and Florida. I would like to correspond with anyone who may be researching these families and compare notes. I would like to substantiate, if at all possible, if my theory is correct.
