Vivian:

The 1850 census shows James with a daughter Mary N. age 2, who was aged 13 in 1860 .

I checked for a wife of a John Maddox in 1920 Jackson Co,and see in Harrisburg Dist 122, image 21, all north of Jefferson and Commerce, in the Jackson Co.Pauper Farm, and find a:
John W. Maddox age 71 b GA no occupation
Mary N age 72 GA

I then looked a t the 1900:
1900 GA Newton Co. Cedar Shoals. Dist 91, uimage 5;
15/32 John W. Maddox Feb 1849, 55, mar24yrs, all GA, Carder
Mary N. Oct 1847 53 mar24yrs, 0 children born, b all GA.

I believe this is the eldest daughter of James Crow.
