Hi Jeff,

In the book "The Early History of Jackson County, Georgia" it shows a John Shield listed as having been drawn for jury duty. He is juror # 41 in 1797. Notice it says Shield not Shields.

This book shows two Shields:
Robert and William
Both are soldiers in Marler's Company CO E 16th Georgia Volunteer Calvary.

I would suggest looking at Shield also if you have not donw so. Hope this helps you.

Gigi
