I am assisting a young lady with her membership to DAR and thought I would post Revolutionary Soldier of Indian Creek in Franklin County, Georgia's Pension affadavit here with hopes it may assist someone else. Judy Spaulding (California) National Archives Film Series: M805 Roll: 849 Image: 47 File: R20446 Page: 1 of 2 Surname GivenName State Service WELCH, BENJAMIN GA Lieutenant Benjamin WELCH R20446 (page 1) (top of page 2) For the purpose of obtaining the benefit of an act of entitled "An Act for the relief of certain officers and Soldier of the Army of the Revolution" approved on the 15th of May 1828. I Benjamin Welch of Indian Creek, in the County of Franklin, in the State of Georgia, do hereby declare that I was an officer in the Continental Line of the Army of the Revolution, and served as such to the end of the war, to the time when the arrangement of this Army, Provided by the Resolve of Congress of the 3rd and 21st of October 1780 was carried into effect, and was reduced under that arrangement, at which period I was a Lieutenant in Colonel Clark's Regiment _ of the Georgia Line. And I also declare a certificate for a Sum equal to the amount of five years full pay, which sum was offered by the resolve of Congress, of the 22nd of March 1783 _ instead of the half pay for life, to which I was entitled under the resolve of the 21st of October 1783.
