I am a direct descendent of William Gallaway and Polly Ragan's son William Ragan Galloway - his daughter Sarah Catherine Gallaway and John Calvin Talbert Cole who lived in rural Mustang, Cleveland County, Oklahoma.

I have been trying to prove that Matthew Gallaway b. 1759 Ireland (father Tait) d. 1824 Oglethorpe Co. GA. wife #1 Elizabeth Beaver Est. 1742-1767 NC, d. abt 1790 SC. was in the American Revolution - DAR has closed line saying that the Georgia land lottery of 1807 and 1827 were not specific as bounty land for Revolutionary Soldiers - they require original proof from Revolutionary War records. GGG granddaughter of Matthew states she was told Matthew was a POW of the British and "bought his freedom" from the British to be freed.

I've been searching but can not find a record of Matthew outside of 1790 Oglethorpe Co. GA census and 1800 record of Beaver Dam Baptist Church Oglethorpe Co. GA showing Matthew and son William were founding members.
