I am looking for the parentage and info on early life of David Griffin b. 1808 near Charleston. According to census info his father was born in England and his mother in Va. In about 1812 the family moved to Hickman Co.,TN. It is possible that his mother was widowed at the time of the move. They lived in TN until about 1825 when David and perhaps his mother moved on to Gallatin Co., IL. In about 1833 David moved on to Cass Co.,IL where he met and married Sarah Cole in 1847. I have information on his life from that point on to his death in Iowa in 1905 at the home of one of his daughters. I am hoping a fellow Griffin researcher might know something. David may have had some brothers who also moved to IL. The family story is that our Griffin line is the same as Lewis L. Griffin of SC who moved to Georgia in the very early part of 1800 and prior to the Civil War founded the town of Griffin, GA. I need information on David from 1808 to 1847 and names of his parents and possible siblings.
