William Guice, of Dugdown, Haralson County, Georgia, resident of Georgia 12 years. Born in Lincoln County, GA 1/25/1830. Enlisted 6/1862 in Fayette County, 53rd GA, Co. C. In 12/1862 was sent to hospital and remained there until 4/22/1863. Took smallpox and was never able to do service anymore. Occupation since 1865 - farming. Grounds for pension - age and poverty. "I have been unable to do anything for about 3 years, have been unable to work for 12 or 15 years. I have been supported by what little on the farm, but it is very little. I have a wife and one child with me, several childten married. They are supported by their own work and what the people help us."
