Ines,
Yes, there are other Gaarz's out there! My great grandfather was August Gaarz. His wife, Minna Muenster Gaarz and 2 children, Clara (my grandmother) and Willy immigrated through Galveston, Texas in 1902. Another brother, Carl, immigrated through Ellis Island in 1891 and brother, Wilhelm immigrated through Galveston in 1903. The Gaarz's were born in Plau, Mecklenburg, Germany. August and Carl settled in Texas and Wilhelm settled in Chicago, IL. Carl had no children that I am aware of and Wilhelm had only daughters. August had 1 son who had children who live in Texas. I do not know of any relation between our families, but in my research I have seen Gaarz spelled Garz. Where did your Garz (Gaarz) family settle? Kathy Stevenson
