The New Mexico Genealogical Society (NMGS) (http://www.NMGS.Org) is celebrating 40 years of helping genealogists!
Their 40th birthday celebration will be held Saturday, 11 Nov 2000, 10:00am, at the new National Hispanic Cultural Center of New Mexico (NHCCNM). A full day of festivities is planned, including a tour of the Center, viewing the collections and electronic resources for genealogists and historians, and listening to several guest speakers (including Albuquerque's Mayor Jim Baca). The program also includes special recognition of the volunteers who have helped make possible all NMGS publications.
The NHCCNM is located in Historic Barelas, a community originally established as an important crossroads and economic center between Mexico City and La Villa de Santa Fe. As early as 1662, the region was recognized for its strategic position on the Camino Real and its natural crossing on the Rio Del Norte.
The NHCCNM is south of downtown Albuquerque. Driving directions: From I-25 take Exit 223 west onto Cesar Chavez Blvd (formerly Bridge Blvd) and drive west about a mile (across the railroad tacks) to 4th Street. Turn south on 4th Street, then right into the parking lot. Signs will direct you to the Research and Literary Arts Building.
Updates for the celebration can be found at: http://www.nmgs.org/workshop.htm
Hope to see you there!
