Gebhardts of Forchtenberg

I have been researching microfilms of the actual church records from Forchtenberg and would like to clear up some mistakes and add to the family line.

First, the family in Forchtenberg was Evangelical (Lutheran), not Catholic. Petrus/Peter Gebhardt was baptized in the Evangelisch Kirche Forchtenberg on 21 Aug 1607. It was not uncommon to see "Latinized" names in the baptism records--but the child was usually known later by his or her common name. Thus, Petrus did not "change" his name to Peter--they are both the same name.

Here is what I have found in the church records:

Peter Gebhardt, b. 21 Aug 1607, d. 17 Jul 1668 in Forchtenberg. On 13 Apr 1635 he married Margaretha Weick, b. 9 Jan 1614, d. 9 Mar 1678 in Forchtenberg.

Peter's parents:
Matthes Gebhardt (birth and death not yet determined, although he did first appear in communion records in 1591, suggesting a birth ~1577 or so), married on 28 Feb 1604 Margaretha Müller, b. 17 Nov 1580, d. 27 Aug 1634.
On their marriage record it indicates that Matthes was the son of Wendel Gebhardt and that Margaretha was the daughter of Martin Müller.

Matthes' parents:
Wendel Gebhardt, b. ~1542, d. 29 Jul 1635, married to Appollonia, b. ~1547, d. 20 Sep 1622.
The death record for Wendel is amazing. It gives his parents' names as Matthes Gebhardt and Elisabetha and says that they were from Weislingen (which I believe is in Elsaß). Wendel was 93 years old, was married at age 30, was married for 50 years and widowed for 12 years and 7 months. He had 4 sons, with 1 still living. The communion records show that Wendel and Appollonia first appeared in Forchtenberg in 1587--thus, they were probably from Weislingen.

Margaretha Müller's parents:
Martin Müller, d. 28 Aug 1621, and Appollonia, b. ~1544, d. 1 Sep 1634.

I also have quite a lot on the ancestry of Margaretha Weick, including members of the well-known Kern family, artists and sculptors.

If anyone would like more information, I am happy to share. And I will soon update my database (pwfs) on Rootsweb.
