Polly Gabbard was my paternal great-grandmother. She was married to Charles Robinson. She was born in 1865 and was married to Charles Robinson in 1883 or 1884.
It is true he was shot and killed approx 1904, just 4 years after my paternal grandfather, Reed Robinson, was born. Alan Creech was convicted of the murder in KY. Two of Charles' children vowed revenge on the murderer, but were thwarted by Alan Creech's death in prison.
Polly neveer re-married and raised all of her children alone. One of her children was my paternal grandfather, Reed Robinson. He died in 1954 from a brain tumor. He also had black lung which he obtained from the coal mines in KY. His wife was Oma Lee Robinson of Breathitt County (Jackson, KY; or more correctly Quicksand, KY as my dad claims).
Their children were Dorothy, Irene, Madeline, Ruby, Reta, Buddy, and Vaughn. My father is Buddy Robinson, who was born 6/13/35 in Hiltonian, KY. He is the only surviving sibling of Reed and Oma Robinson. Reta died about a year ago of cancer.
My dad, Buddy, married Mary Rachel Pitts of Woodbury, TN. They had four children, William, Richard, Stephen, and Pamela. All of my siblings are still living. Bill and Steve in Michigan, our home state; Richard in Virginia, and Pam in Eustis, Florida. My dad lives in Leesburg Florida.
