I agree with everything you say. In the 1920 U.S. Census • West Virginia • Wood • Slate , the name is listed as John W. Gabbert and in the 1930 U.S. Federal Census > West Virginia > Wood > Slate > District 24 the name is listed as William J. Gabert. I believe John W. was the son of Alexander Gabbert and wife, Sarah Jane -----.
Still seaching for the Spies and Carney surnames that are associated with all of these people..
