Hi

Does anyone have information on the Gabbie name which I believe may be a corrupted form of either Gabbey or Gebbie. My family live around the Strangford Lough area of County Down in Northern Ireland.

A few searches I have conducted have not led anywhere. One piece of information that I did find from 1901, showed the surname having been spelt as Gabbey! My grandfather has confirmed that these people were his grandparents or gr8-grandparents.
