Paul, is there any chance your grandfather had a sister named Mary born overseas in 1881 who married a John Meyer in Chicago in 1902? My grandfather was their firstborn. I am trying to find a family for Mary to have emigrated with. Do you know of any other likey Chicago Gabels to whom you could direct me?
I wish I could help you with the German, but I cannot, sorry.
