Thanks for your response. On the 1860 Jackson Township census Jacob & Barbara's children were Emma (poss. the Anna you refer to) age 8 ; Adam age 4 ;
John age 2 and Elizabeth age 4 mos. It only lists "Bavaria" as J & B's place of birth
so I was thrilled to get the town name from
your son's website.
On the 1880 census, Adam & John were still living with their parents as well as Cassie (age 18) , William (16) and a 9 year
old grand-daughter Anna Detmore.
John married Anna Walters (I'm still trying to
find out her parents' names). Besides a daughter Anna Barbara ( who died in 1919
when her clothing caught fire after she fell
down stairs while carrying a lantern), they
also had Susie (m. Harry Weaver) ; Mary
( d. when only 15 mos. old) and Jacob John ( my great-grandfather ) who m. Emma Retta Coolbaugh.
The website mentioned an older brother of
Jacob named John. Do you know if he also settled in Luz. Co.--- at the old St. Nicholas Cemetery on Darling St., Wilkes-Barre where Jacob & Barbara are buried there is a stone for a John (b. 1812)
and Margareth (b. 1823 in Hillsbach, Baden, Germany).
Thanks for all the info-- I appreciate it!
