9. Henry2 Gable (John1)29,30,31 was born 17 July 1773 in Anderson, SC32,33, and died 12 October 1866 in Anderson, SC34,35. He married Elizabeth Martin36,37, daughter of David Martin and Mary ?.
Notes for Henry Gable:
"He was a local preacher in the Methodist Church in South Carolina. He was a slave holder. He knew how to use simple remedies to treat diseases and was in great demand among simple people of the countryside, as doctors were scarce. He travelled far and wide to render his services and never accepted a penny in payment." Source: Donald G. Hervey, Mayflower to the Moon: Herveys & Gables (Houston, 1980), pp. 508-9.
Appears in the 1850 U. S. Census, Anderson County, SC, Western Subdivision, pg. 201B (652/656).
One researcher has suggested that Henry Gable is not the son of the immigrant John Gable, but is instead that same Henry Gable who was the son of Harmon Gable [Sr.] Source: Clifford Merck, GenForum, Gable Family message board. This suggestion merits further study.

35. Henry3 Gable, Jr. (Henry2, John1)127,128 was born October 1817 in Anderson, SC129,130, and died 30 September 1901 in Iuka, Tishomingo County, MS131. He married Martha Hanks132,133 c. 1836 in Anderson County, SC134, daughter of George Hanks and Mary ?. She was born c. 1820 in Anderson, SC135, and died 23 March 1886 in Iuka, Tishomingo County, MS135.

Appears with his wife and children in the 1850 U. S. Census, Anderson County, SC, Western Subdivision, pg. 201B (651/655).
Removed to Mississippi, 1852, with his brother Jim. The Henry Gable house was between Iuka and Burnsville, MS, in Tishomingo County in the northeastern corner of the state. "Henry was a matter-of-fact farmer who countenanced no show of ostentaciousness . . . Henry Gable was very severe with his children. He gave orders that upon his death his children would not erect a tombstone." (Source: Hervey, pp. 509-12)
Acquired 160 acres of land in the Northwest quarter, Section 12, Township 5, Range 10 in Tishomingo County, MS, from John M. and Harriet Brunt for $400 by deed dated 29 November 1851. Acquired an additional parcel in the Southeast quarter, Section 12, Township 5, Range 10 in Tishomingo County, MS, for $250 from William and Catherine McFadden by deed dated 31 January 1852. The land lies immediately to the north and northwest of Paradise Church and its cemetery, 10 miles south of Iuka and 1-1/2 miles northeast of the town of Tishomingo. (Source: William D.
