From various sites on the internet I find a great deal of data on Sylvester Aaron GABLE born Aug. 26, 1837 PA or OH.
These sources above name his parents as Solomon Levi GABLE and Elizabeth DULL.
In 1850 he is living with his mother (Elizabeth DULL GABLE MCCARROLL). She apparently remarried after the death of Solomon. Also listed in the household are siblings, Dennis, Levi, Amos, Harvy, and Uriah.
Sources on internet state Sylvester Aaron married Ida Elizabeth JANES Feb. 1865 in Tehama Co., CA. First child, Margaret Jane born 10 Jan. 1866 Red Bluff, CA.
My problem is that Aaron or Sylvester, however you wish to refer to him, married first Mary M. ROBISON April 15, 1860 in CA. She was born 1843in Iowa. They had one child, Jennie Rosa GABLE born Oct. 1860 CA. The family of Aaron GABLE and Mary are listed in the CA 1860 census in Napa, Napa, CA:
A. GABLE, age 23, born OH
Mary M. GABLE, age 17, born IA
Harvey C. GABLE, age 24, born OH
No one has mentioned his first wife.
Problem: Ida E. JANES age 18, b. WI is listed with father Edward P. JANES in the 1870 Tehama, Tehama, CA census. She is not yet married, however, individuals on internet state Ida married Sylvester Aaron Gable Feb. 1865 and started having children in 1866.
You can see my dilemma. Can anyone unravel this?
