Place - Albercorn, Parish of St. Matthew, Province of Georgia- ABOUT 30 MILES west-southwest OF PORT ROYAL, SOUTH CAROLINA. Item - The recorded colonial will of a John Gable. Repository - GEORGIA ARCHIVES at Morrow, Georgia (microfilm). Questions: Did the Honorable Judge Zelma W. Price discover this will and mention it in her volume on the Gable family? How did others that have written about the Gables of South Georgia (Savannah area) miss this extremely important document ? Is this will an impertinent document ? Could this have been the same John Gable written about as the immigrant to South Carolina who received land (but no plat exists at the South Carolina Archives showing that it was ever surveyed) at Sax-Gotha ? Who were Abraham, John, Peter, Daniel, and Jacob Gable who appeared multiple times in the Savannah newspapers before and around 1800 ? Why is Conrad Marks (Merck?) mentioned with them ? Wasn't he the brother of the wife of Harmon Gable, Sr. (3rd great grandfather) ? Further discussion: How many (MARRIED) Henry Gables lived in South Carolina before 1810 ? Which Henry Gable requested a divorce from his wife, Nancy, through the South Carolina Legislature in 1810 ? Which Henry Gable and his wife, Mary, witnessed the will of James Adamson on September 6, 1811, in Abbeville District, South Carolina ? Was Henry Gable who went to Pendleton/Anderson County, South Carolina, yet a third Henry Gable ? Do any of these questions establish any doubts about the "currently accepted" published Gable family history in South Carolina, for anyone other than me ? Notify Administrator about this message?
