In the 1830 census of Lexington County, South Carolina, Ballentine was enumerated with Fred(eric)k Gable enumerated adjacent to him. Frederick Gobble, as well as Jacob, John, and John Jr. (all enumerated as Gobbles) were listed in the 1810 census of Rowan County, North Carolina. The enumeration for the two Fredericks for the two censuses matched and the enumeration for Ballentine matched with that of Valentine Gable, who moved to Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.
Some Gables immigrated through Virginia before 1700 according to land grant records. Some have been traced into the 1700's.
Mrs. Judy Rountree Mason asked some very pertinent questions a few years ago. I hope that she will respond to this message.
John Gable who died in Anderson County South Carolina, in or before 1839 WAS NOT !!!!! the son of Valentine Gable, but was the son of Harmon Gable, Sr.
