I have been coming to this site anxiously for a few months, but I've avoided posting anything because I have so little knowledge to offer, and because no one's posting seemed to hint towards my own geneolgy until yours. Spilling what few beans I have:
My great-grandfather was from poland; I beleive his name was Aaron. I don't know if he had any siblings, but I think he did end up in Germany. My grandfather, Simon, was a Jew and a champion feather-weight boxer there in the thirties. He and his wife, Esther (who converted to judaism to marry him) fled to Italy where my uncle was born, and then to a Shanghai refugee camp where my father was born. In 1947, the four of them arrived in Pittsburgh, PA by way of San Francisco. Simon had a sister, Ida, who gave birth to my dad's cousins, Joe and Rolph. According to my uncle, there may have been a mentally challenged sister of Simon's, but neither he nor my father really know anything about her.
There are a few small details almost too insignificant to mention here. Also, my uncle has many of Simon's papers (and possibly Aaron's) from different jobs and citizenships, and hopefully soon I will have my own copies.
