My husband's mother maiden is also Gabriel and we were told that it was German. But a friend went over there with the papers and found the area that they lived in is now the Chec (sp) republic. But all the papers say that it was Germany. One thing that you have to remember that the lines of a country changed with whoever won the war that year. Barbara Olekas
